Hooray for pinstriped pants!!
from lizDifference between Funk and Disco: Funk is cool while Disco is definitely not. No, seriously. There's something about disco that just screams "awful rip off by lame-ass white musicians" while funk is the epitome of cool {well, perhaps that is an exaggeration}. There's just something in the *style* of funk that I can't put my finger on. Disco is very pop, while funk is more sure of its cool quotient. Ooh, Glam is good. Somehow they always consider Lou Reed's *Transformer* to be Glam, but regardless its brilliant and you should give it a listen. That is all.
from lizI love how people have to be so secretive about their distate for Jimi Hendrix... for I, too, am not a huge fan. Like yourself, the greatest hits can be a fine listen {"Red House"!} but I'm not particularly interested in his style of guitar, which is clearly what his music focuses on.
from lizhey! you're adorable. i like what you write. if you'd like to read my diary, just leave me a note or an email and i'll give ya a password! c-ya!
from terriI totally agree with the whole shag hair on 18-25 guys, but not 40 year olds. Actually, it's funny, because it makes me think of Robert Plant. His beautiful curls were fabulous in 1971, but now he looks like the Cowardly Lion from The Wizard Of Oz. Seriously. Ah, well, sometimes people don't know what kind of hair looks bad on them. Look at mullet-heads.
from lizWow, I'm jealous. How was the documentary?
from SamanthaYour photographs are beautiful! I used to live in Biloxi, Mississippi, where there's a very old cemetary that sprawls out for over a mile. The headstones date all the way back to the Civil War, and there's some very interesting inscriptions on the old one. I'm glad I'm not the only one who wanders cemetaries without worrying about being a ghoul
from Samantha1) In response to sam just below me, we mentioned the who in my class yesterday and gord (the prof) was like "and we won't get into his current legal troubles." whihc was funny. 2) I liked how you said "some thing" it nearly killed me. : ) 3) I think the problem with most doors fans, especially when not liking their more "commercial" music, is that most Doors fans are angsty 16 year-old boys who find lyrics like "the west is the best" very profound. the problem with the doors is that while I think they are a fantastic band, their music is often overshadowed by Jim Morrison's "poetry" that I find neither deep or moving. 4) Your prof is not misleading you about the whole "27 Factor", Jim Morrison was indeed 27 when he died. There are like a million other people to, including Brian Jones, and I think even Kurt Cobain. I'm sure there's a website devoted to this somewhere : )
from lizI can't believe that I found someone whose musical tastes are so perfectly in line with mine. I listen to a bit of everything, but the classic stuff I've listened to since birth and it's definitely my favorite. What do you think about the accusations that pete townshend had kiddie porn? It upset me a LOT.
from Samanthayeah, I don't know what was wrong with my guestbook. As you may or may not have noticed, I keep religiously changing my template. But when I design a new one, I do it based on this "basic" template I keep on file so that I don't have to retype out all the things I'm going to use every time (makes code writing much easier). Anyway, I know on that on the template before this one, my guestbook link lead to elizbeth.diaryland.com which was my original guestbook (but i lost the password and never used it) so imagine my suprise of clicking on it and being brought there! Funnily enough, someone actually left a message in it. Maybe i'll go leave a message for myself to see what's up. <-- I suppose this isn't *really* vital information, but if sten is getting all my guestbook messages, i'll be sad! : ( h aha ha
